About IGCSE Additional Mathematics (0606)
Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics (0606) is the step up from IGCSE Maths and the natural bridge into A Level. It is built for strong mathematicians who want to meet calculus, deeper algebra and trigonometry a year or two early. The course runs from functions, quadratics, surds and polynomials through logarithms, exponentials and the trigonometric identities, and finishes on the two ideas that A Level leans on most, differentiation and integration.
There are two papers, each worth 50%, and both reward clean algebra and clear setting out. Questions tend to be longer and more involved than standard IGCSE Maths, often joining two or three ideas in one problem, so the students who cope well are the ones who are fluent with the basics and never skip lines of working. How to do well in Additional Mathematics
